What are we looking for?

We are looking for a talented Team Leader for our Controls department. Key responsibilities will include leading and coaching the team members on projects, internal systems/standards building and internal process development.

The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to design and develop class leading automation solutions by contributing to machine concepts, design of control software, integration of software with electrical and mechanical systems, and process development. The programming and integration assignments involve processes utilizing PLC’s, PC’s, robotics, motion controllers, vision systems, laser, and other controllers.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement PLC and/or PC based programs specific to customer and project requirements
  • Develop controls architecture and code for partial or wholesale changes, as well as new system development
  • Specify, test and qualify control hardware components in conjunction with systems and electrical design
  • Work directly with internal and external teams to observe devices and processes in operation, locate root cause problems, and develop solutions both short and long term
  • Travel as required to customer site for installation, commissioning and training tasks
  • Provide written summaries and reports reflecting current and desired states as well as recommendations
  • Perform efficiency studies including OEE and Failure analysis
  • Provide recommendations for reaching and sustaining production goals
  • Complete all required internal time reporting and customer update reporting
  • Plan, delegate and direct work as well as mentoring new employees
  • Ensure that all activities are performed with highest ethical standards and in compliance with RAMP Inc. business policies
  • Support the Applications Group in cost estimating for potential projects
  • Assist team with solutions
  • Ability to support and advise your team on the direction of the project
  • Ensure the accuracy of the project and that it is being held up to Ramp’s standards
  • Demonstrate team-oriented leadership and goal setting

Qualifications:

  • Excellent people skills and the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Has led a team of 2 or more for a minimum of 1 year, or longer
  • Experienced in aspects of controls system design including motion control and vision systems
  • Proficient in various Controls platforms (i.e. Allen Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff, Omron etc.)
  • Superior troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in machinery and production processes

Education:

  • Engineering designation or College technical program related to automation, electrical design or robotics

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in automation industry
  • Strong programming, mechanical and electrical problem solving skills
  • Working knowledge of Robotic systems an asset (Fanuc, Kuka, ABB)
  • Experience with Autonomous Mobile Robots is an asset
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, ePLAN or Solidworks is an asset
